The light blue influencer and the economist are both in the running to be candidates for governor of the liberal party in a key province for the presidential fight.

Agustín Laje and Diana Mondino are the names that are in the running to compete for Javier Milei’s ticket in Córdoba, the second most important district in the country.

Laje is a writer, political scientist and Master in Philosophy, although he is known in politics as a right-wing “influencer”. His moment of greatest exposure came during the abortion debate, since he became a referent of the “celestial” who reject the law sanctioned at the end of 2020 by the Congress.

Laje presides over the Fundación Libre, a “think tank against cultural Marxism and the hegemony of progressivism” and is listened to by the Spaniards of Vox, the far-right party in Spain.

For his militancy against abortion, he has earned the hatred of the main feminist referents. “If feminism pulls the rope so much, a political machismo will emerge,” he said in an interview with the media El Español.

Mondino, meanwhile, is an economist, professor at the University of Cema and businesswoman. She sits on the boards of companies such as Loma Negra and Bodegas Bianchi. She is also very active on Twitter, where she has more than 80 thousand followers. She has not yet decided to take the leap into politics, but her children are pushing her to accept to be a liberal candidate.

In Córdoba they are expectant about how Milei will play in the provincial elections. Peronists believe that she can be the key for a victory against Luis Juez. In Juntos por el Cambio they think the same.

“We are not functional to anyone”, said to LPO in Milei’s space, which in Córdoba already has the seal of the Liberal Party.
